The changing face of the web

I’m in the process of moving over to a new development laptop – it’s only taken a year to get round to it, but that’s another story to do with IE6 & Vista/XP support. As part of this is tidying up over 5 years of accumulated IE favourites, some of which were inherited from a previous desktop.

New Site: Distros.co.uk – Linux ISO Direct

Distros – Linux ISO Direct, save bandwidth, buy linux online. This is the first of a number of ecommerce sites planned for 2009/2010.

It’s a bit of a pet project I’ve wanted to do for a while, and jumped at the chance to acquire the domain from a colleague.

Affilistore News

I’ve started to work on the latest distribution release of Affilistore Enhanced, which will be ASE2.5.4. This will be a bugfix/optimization release. There’s a bit of work on the table indexing to make the whole script run faster and also some css optimization.

New Site: chronowatch.co.uk

Finally making a bit of a dent in the project list by releasing the final part of the ‘watch’ trilogy. To partner iwatches.co.uk & watchtime.co.uk comes chronowatch.co.uk.

OpenCart v1 Mod: Manufacturer Descriptions

This is for OpenCart v1 only – Open Cart.

This implements a similar structure to the Category Descriptions Mod but instead allows a description per manufacturer to be added. Not always required it is sometimes useful to add a bit of blurb & images to pad out a section and give it some weight.

Open Source E-Commerce: OpenCart v1

A current project involves a foray into online retailing, something I’ll be doing a lot more of in the coming months. As a prelude I downloaded latest versions of major current open-source e-commerce platforms: magento, zen-cart, phpshop, opencart – and dived into the code.

I didn’t stay submerged for long!

ccTLD Top Level Country Codes

Ever wanted to know what the country code prefix is for a particular country – or even if it has one? I’ve put a list of the current IANA ccTLD’s here.

Woolies and The Way Of The Mammoth

Woolworth’s were a part of everyone’s childhood. Whether it was buying sweets, toys, the odd tupperware box, or a bit of stuff that you couldn’t find anywhere else, Woolies was the place to find it.

Revolution Two – Premium Themes

I posted late last year on the move from the Revolution premium themes by Brian Gardner to an open-source release of new CMS-ready RevolutionTwo themes: link.

Happy New Year – 2009 The Year Ahead

Happy New Year… a bit late I know, but I’ve been putting the finishing touches to the site content overhaul. New sections have been added, content refreshed & updated, and the backend system updated to the new WordPress 2.7 release.
