Affilistore News
I’ve started to work on the latest distribution release of Affilistore Enhanced, which will be ASE2.5.4. This will be a bugfix/optimization release. There’s a bit of work on the table indexing to make the whole script run faster and also some css optimization. Hopefully the outstanding issues with the old category table structure will be dealt with. Release planned for early April.
I will be release ASE themes after 2.5.4 when I’ve updated the anyname.co.uk/ase demo to that version & tested them. Also looking to outsource some css & graphics work. The Wireframe structures (12 of them) that the themes are based on are sound & tested to ASE 2.5.3 but all just based on twilight, so new headers/backgrounds etc. I may possibly also do some custom structural/css work. Any (good) web designers / theme developers (e.g wordpress) looking to do some graphical work in return for a free set of themes drop me an email with examples of work. I’m also looking to convert the themes to WordPress for integration simulation.
I’ve decided to scrap the Affilistore Enhanced v2.6 release stream and instead moving to the Afilistore Enhanced v3 stream. This is a bit more of a substantial jump and requires a major stream label increment. Changes will include:
- product control -ability to search & edit products and also add new ones to existing merchant and new merchant
- module support / php stript integration
- XML/RSS import
- cUrl support
- Inline edit/delete on storefront when logged in as admin
- Images caching & conversion on import.
- Increased session control
- New default theme
Release sometime during 2009.

v3 sounds great!!
Will the product control have a persistent memory through feed refreshes?
e.g. If I optimise the description, maybe add a missing brand on merchant x prod y, will it carry it forward?
Sounds like a great way to optimise for SEO and be different from the pack.
Always struck me that it would also be good to have a synonym/transpose list to change some words on the import to immediately differentiate too.
Inline editing sounds amazingly handy when you spot a change needed.
Not defined how product control will wortk yet, but some kind of transpose is possible. Also a differentiation between import and imported products for the refresh. Depends on how refresh affects id’s.
Moving to jquery so more ajax
Different admin look as well.
Merchant product IDs look to be persistent. I assume that represents the stock ID from their inventory systems and shouldn’t really change.
It would be good to clean out the rubbish once and then forget about it on future imports knowing that I only need to review **New** products added.

XML import products?
Yes. I plan on using the same functionality that is already inbuilt for the enhanced RSS feed mod to essentially import XML/RSS into the products. Not figured out all the intermediate steps yet.
